Out now

Nashville-based Americana singer-songwriter Channing K (formerly of Lake & Lyndale) just released her new single, “Make a Woman,” on July 11, 2025, via Rock Ridge Music.

Recommended if you like: Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Maggie Rogers, Lainey Wilson, Donovan Woods, Ruston Kelly.

“This video is truly stunning, as Channing K wears words used to denigrate women written on her skin as she sings the song in a community of other women falling in beside her. The effect is a powerful support to a powerful song. It’s important and well worth the watch and listen.” – Americana Highways

Says Channing about the song:

“I felt like it was time to release a song inspired by the strong women who have shaped and inspired my life. I know I’m not the only woman who has been underestimated and been made to feel like they need to mold themselves into something they’re not. I wrote the song ‘Make a Woman’ with Jesse Dozzi, and it immediately felt special. I worked with producer Alex Kiel on this song, and I think we captured the sentiment as a whole. I hope that people listen to it and feel the subtle beauty and power that the song stands for. There is a lot of telling people what they can or cannot do in this world, and this song stands as a reminder that your truth is important, and that truth and your voice can’t be taken away from you.”

About Channing K

Channing K skips the small talk. Her vibrant storytelling invites every listener into a deeper conversation and leaves one feeling a deep connection that can only be found with good friends. After years of honing her craft, touring the country, and finding her voice with her band, Lake & Lyndale, she is now launching her solo career, bringing her most raw and truest self to the forefront. Her sound is an organic blend of indie-folk, country, and introspective lyrics, creating a genre that feels uniquely her own.

Channing grew up in Assumption, Illinois, where she fell in love with being onstage at the age of 8 when she began performing at the theater in nearby Sullivan for four consecutive summers. She spent her Sundays singing at church and began vocal and piano lessons at an early age. With her unwavering passion for music, she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota at 18 to attend McNally Smith College of Music where she studied vocal performance and began performing in various bands and an amusement park.

Her path took a turn when she lost her voice and had to have vocal surgery, not knowing if she would make a return to the music scene. “It was such a dark time in my life, that I think I pretended it never happened,” Channing remembers. “Looking back now, I realize that it ultimately sparked my love for songwriting, especially lyrics, and gave me such a deeper appreciation for music.”

Post-vocal surgery, after several months of rebuilding, Channing joined a band and went on to tour the Midwest; playing some of the largest festivals and opening for artists such as Randy Houser, The Band Perry, Miranda Lambert, Billy Currington, and many others. With Nashville always being where she wanted to end up, she, along with three of the band members, made the move to Music City together, where Lake & Lyndale was formed. They continued touring and releasing music, and Channing K began writing for various artists. “I’m grateful for the experiences that brought me to where I am today,” she says. “My experience touring and playing all sizes of stages has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to be on the road and shaped who I am as an artist. It is how I found my voice again.”

That voice is gentle but powerful, a haunting mix of vulnerability and strength that connects with the listener in a way that feels like they’ve known her for years. With tones of Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and Kacey Musgraves, her voice brings a timeless quality that is both nostalgic and fresh.

What sets Channing K apart is her honesty. Her first upcoming single, “Make a Woman,” written by Channing and Jesse Dozzi, and produced by Alex Kiel, touches on standing one’s ground and what it means to be a woman who does just that. She doesn’t shy away from the messy, complicated aspects of life; instead, she embraces them fully and with grace, and, at times, humor. She brings an electric live show, one that has been shaped by years of touring, from large stages to smaller intimate ones. Every performance feels like an invitation to join her on a journey that celebrates the beauty and imperfections of simply being a human.

Channing is beginning an exciting new chapter, one where she fully embraces her artistry and creates a space where vulnerability feels safe, and power is found in subtle moments. In a world full of noise, Channing K’s music is a quiet but undeniable force, and it will be heard and deeply felt. “I’m not great with small talk so let’s just dive right in,” she says.
